The Kanbauk-Yangon onshore pipeline has a total length of 512 km and a design pressure of 1000 PSIG (6.9 MPa);

The pipeline assets are owned by MOGE (Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise;

The investor for the pipeline replacement project is PTTEP (PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited);

Currently, the pipeline is plagued by multiple defects, including the following:

Extensive sections of bare pipeline (without anti-corrosion coating)

The pipeline runs through densely populated villages and urban areas, with encroachments occurring in some sections

The absence of a cathodic protection system for the pipeline

The use of non-standard elbows in certain pipeline segments, which renders pigging operations infeasible

 Leakages in valve chambers

 Insufficient burial depth of some pipeline sections (with partial segments exposed above ground)

In view of the aforementioned issues, and to increase the gas transmission capacity of the pipeline, it is imperative to carry out renovation works to rectify these defects.User: Petroleum Authority of Thailand&Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise

Undertake the renovation of the 306.8-km Kanbauk-Myaingalay section, merging the original 7 bare pipeline segments into 5 pipeline replacement sections. Conduct the redesign of all valve chambers and the cathodic protection system along the entire Kanbauk-Myaingalay section. Perform 16 hot tie-in joints with the original pipeline.
